Oswal Pumps has secured a ₹273.19-crore order from the Telangana Renewable Energy Development Corporation (TGREDCO) to install rooftop solar systems across 9,937 government schools in all 33 districts of Telangana.
The project covers a combined capacity of 46.7 MW and includes the design, supply, installation and commissioning of on-grid rooftop photovoltaic systems. The order value of ₹273.19 crore is before GST, according to the company's regulatory disclosure reported by Business Standard and other outlets.
The installations will use systems rated at 2 kW, 5 kW and 10 kW, depending on the school. Oswal Pumps will deploy Mono PERC and TOPCon solar modules, along with mounting structures and remote monitoring systems. The contract also includes comprehensive maintenance for five years.
The company is required to complete the installation within 180 days of receiving the work order, Business Standard reported.
The scale is significant not just because of the total generating capacity, but because the project spreads rooftop solar across thousands of public institutions rather than concentrating installations at a small number of large sites. The programme covers schools across Telangana's entire 33-district network.
For schools, rooftop solar can provide on-site electricity generation while reducing reliance on power drawn entirely from the grid. The project's stated objective is to expand renewable-energy infrastructure across educational institutions in the state.
The order also marks Oswal Pumps' first major project in Telangana, according to the company. Vivek Gupta, chairman and managing director of Oswal Pumps, described the award as a milestone in the company's expansion into the state.
The project comes as rooftop solar adoption becomes a larger part of India's renewable-energy expansion. In Telangana, putting systems on government-school buildings gives the programme a highly distributed footprint: instead of one large solar plant, capacity will be installed across thousands of individual rooftops.
The company's exchange disclosure gives the contract's value at approximately ₹297.50 crore including GST, while the ₹273.19-crore figure excludes GST. Both figures refer to the same 46.7 MW school rooftop programme.
For Telangana, the next test is execution. The project has to move from an order covering 9,937 schools to completed installations within the stipulated timeline, followed by the contracted five-year maintenance period.
