Centre proposes mandatory energy ratings for large buildings

The Centre has proposed mandatory energy performance ratings for commercial and institutional buildings larger than 20,000 sq. metres. The move aims to improve energy efficiency, lower electricity consumption and promote sustainable building practices. The draft framework would require large commercial and institutional buildings to obtain energy performance ratings based on operational energy use.
