Interesting breakdown. Has anyone validated this with recent site execution costs?

Nifty 50 Looks Cheaper. Is It Finally Good Value?

The Nifty 50's forward P/E ratio declined from 24.8 in September 2024 to 17.2 in September 2026, according to Bajaj Asset Management research reported by Economic Times.

Its PEG ratio is also approaching one of its most attractive levels in a decade.

That sounds encouraging for long-term investors.

But the situation is more complicated.

A lower forward P/E means investors are paying less for each rupee of expected future earnings.

The problem is that those earnings are forecasts.

If corporate profits disappoint, a market that appears inexpensive today may become expensive relative to its revised earnings outlook.

Higher bond yields, elevated oil prices and foreign investor caution also influence the valuations that investors are willing to pay.

We would like to explore three questions:

  1. Does the Nifty 50's lower valuation make Indian large-cap equities more attractive to you, or are you waiting for stronger earnings evidence?

  2. When analysing stocks or mutual funds, how much weight do you place on P/E and PEG ratios compared with business quality, cash flow and interest rates?

  3. Could India's valuation premium over other emerging markets remain justified by future growth, or should investors expect it to narrow?

We welcome different interpretations, examples and evidence that challenge the analysis.
