Four buildings in Gurugram’s DLF Phase III were sealed on August 18 over alleged unauthorised construction and commercial activities, as the Town and Country Planning Department carried out an enforcement drive in the area, according to ETRealty, citing PTI.
The department’s enforcement wing also demolished unauthorised construction in the stilt area of one building and sealed illegal paying guest accommodations and guest houses, the report said. Officials additionally cleared approximately 1.5 km of the Right of Way (RoW) of alleged encroachments.
The operation was led by District Town Planner (Enforcement) Amit Madholiya.
During the drive, the enforcement team inspected a stilt-plus-four-storey building constructed on a plot measuring about 1,000 square yards. Officials found that roughly 500 square metres of the stilt area, which was intended for parking, had instead been used for additional rooms and facilities.
According to the official statement cited by ETRealty, the enclosed area included a projector room, bar room, bedroom, drawing room, lift lobby and additional toilets.
Floor owners told the departmental team that builder Jatin Arora had developed the additional space within the stilt parking area and sold it to them. They also said Arora was no longer in contact with them, according to the report.
Madholiya said stilt areas cannot be enclosed and used for rooms or other activities beyond the limits prescribed under building regulations. The enforcement team subsequently demolished the enclosed structures using a bulldozer, the report said.
The action highlights the enforcement authorities’ focus on unauthorised conversion of designated parking and other regulated spaces in Gurugram. In this case, the drive extended beyond the individual buildings, with officials also removing alleged encroachments along a roughly 1.5-km stretch of the Right of Way.
The action was carried out by the enforcement wing of the Town and Country Planning Department, with Madholiya overseeing the operations.
