Jio IPO Lists 21% Higher: Buy, Sell or Wait?

Jio Platforms made its stock-market debut on 28 October 2026 at approximately ₹1,358–₹1,359 per share, compared with an IPO price of ₹1,119.

The company attracted substantial demand during its ₹30,213 crore public issue and entered the market among India's most valuable listed businesses.

But a strong market debut introduces an interesting investment dilemma.

Someone who received IPO shares at ₹1,119 has a different starting point from someone considering a purchase after the price jumped more than 21%.

Both may believe in Jio's long-term business prospects, but their expected investment returns and risks can differ because they paid different prices.

We would like to explore three questions:

1. If you received a Jio IPO allotment, what would determine whether you take the listing gain or retain the shares?

2. For investors who missed the IPO, what financial or valuation evidence would justify buying at a premium?

3. Which matters more over the next few years: Jio's subscriber scale, future profitability, capital expenditure or the valuation already reflected in the stock?

Share the reasoning behind your view rather than simply predicting whether the share price will rise or fall.

Brokerage research, company disclosures, valuation comparisons and thoughtful counterarguments are especially welcome.

Join the discussion and help other investors distinguish market excitement from long-term investment fundamentals.
