Does your solar savings estimate explain surplus power?

From Vantage Editorial:

Bihar’s draft rooftop-solar amendments bring export assumptions into focus. Mercom’s reporting describes a proposed capacity ceiling and a change to financial-year-end surplus compensation -> Bihar Proposes 500 kW Cap for Rooftop Solar Net Metering.

The proposal remains a draft in the reviewed official listing. Our companion analysis asks how buyers should evaluate savings while the final treatment is unresolved.

A subsidy can reduce installation expenditure. It cannot explain how every generated unit becomes a saving or payment.

  1. Does your quotation distinguish electricity used at home from exports and residual surplus? Which assumptions are documented?
  2. How would you compare system sizes if extra generation receives a different financial value?
  3. If you already have rooftop solar, what do your bills reveal about export credits and settlement balances?
